
Schaffner and Danielson Highlight All-Summit League Baseball Awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Senior pitcher Joey Danielson and freshman infielder Jake Schaffner were named to the All-Summit League First Team as eight Bison picked up All-Summit League honors, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Danielson and Schaffner were named to the All-Summit League First Team, while Will Busch landed on the All-Summit League Second Team for the second straight season. Cadyn Schwabe, Sam Canton, James Dunlap, Garret Hill and Logan Knight were all selected to the Honorable Mention list.
Danielson has totaled a career-high and team-best 11 total saves this season, which leads the Summit League and ranks fourth in the nation. The Eden Prairie, Minn., native posted a conference-best nine saves in Summit League play over 15 appearances with 23 strikeouts over 19.2 innings.
Schaffner, who was the only freshman selected to the All-Summit League First Team, recorded a .348 batting average in Summit League play, which ranked ninth in the conference. The Janesville, Wis., native led all freshmen in Summit League play in batting average (.348), on-base percentage (.451), hits (39) and runs (27). Schaffner also recorded a team-high 13 multiple hit games in conference play.
Busch started all 27 games in conference play this season and logged a .223 batting average with 21 hits, including four doubles. The New Prague, Minn., native also recorded a .995 fielding percentage in league play.
Schwabe posted a team-high .350 batting average in Summit League play to go along with 36 hits and 20 runs. Canton led the Bison with a team-high 28 RBI and added a .320 batting average with 33 hits, including a team-best five home runs in conference play.
Dunlap tallied a .308 batting average in Summit League play with 28 hits and a team-best seven doubles. He also added 18 RBI and 15 runs to his stat line. Hill contributed a .274 batting average with 20 hits, including five doubles and three home runs. He also tallied 19 RBI with 14 runs.
Knight closed out the group after logging a team-high 56 strikeouts, which ranked fourth in Summit League play. The London, Ontario native posted a 5-1 record in league play with a 4.44 ERA and limited opposing batters to a .271 batting average.

NDSU earned the second seed in the Summit League Championship after finishing regular season play with a 19-28-1 (14-12-1 Summit) overall record and will face third-seeded Oral Roberts on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m., at J.L Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Okla.
