Maples Claims 2nd Team All-America Honors in Hammer Throw

EUGENE, Ore. – North Dakota State's Lexi Maples placed 16th in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday afternoon at Hayward Field.
Maples threw 203-3 (61.96m) – twice – for 16th place in the meet, earning second team All-America honors.
Maples captured the Summit League title in the hammer this season, and owns a personal-best throw of 213-2 (64.97m) that ranks third on the NDSU all-time list.
NDSU has sent a women's qualifier to the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw in six of the past seven seasons.
The top eight finishers in all events earn first team All-American honors, places 9 through 16 are named second team All-Americans, and all other national meet competitors receive honorable mention status.
