FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State picked up a shutout victory over Concordia College-Moorhead Thursday night, topping the Cobbers 46-0 in the home opener for the Bison at the Scheels Center inside the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
Ezekiel Witt started the night off with a first period fall in just 64 seconds at 125 pounds and
Andrew McMonagle also grabbed a first period fall at 184 pounds to lead the way for the Bison.
After Witt's fall,
Ostin Blanchard made his debut for the Bison with a tech fall and then true freshmen
Devon Harrison,
Gabriel Gallardo and
Brandon Dean wrapped up a first half sweep with a major decision, tech fall and decision, respectively.
Coming out of the break,
Boeden Greenley recorded a major decision at 165 pounds, before true freshman
Luke Hoag picked up a win by decision. After McMonagle's pin,
Devin Wasley and
Shilo Jones completed the shutout with tech fall victories.
Harrison and Gallardo also appeared in extra matches, along with fellow true freshman
Porter Craig. Harrison grabbed the third pin of the night with a first-period fall in his extra match at 141. Gallardo recorded a 16-9 win in his extra match at 149. Craig nearly had a fall in his extra match at 165 but secured a 23-2 tech fall to close the night.
North Dakota State will head south to Brookings, South Dakota on Sunday for the Daktronics Invitational. The event is set to get underway at 9 a.m. inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
