NDSU Soccer Hosts Marquette on Sunday

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State soccer will look to rebound from a season opening loss on Thursday, as the Bison welcome in Marquette University Sunday afternoon. Kickoff between the Bison and the Golden Eagles is set for 1 p.m. at Dacotah Field.

Admission & Parking
Admission to all NDSU soccer home matches is FREE. Parking is available in Lot R west of Dacotah Field after 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays and all day on Sunday. Additional parking is available in Fargodome lots C and D.
Series History
The Bison will face the Golden Eagles for just the third time in series history and the first time in Fargo. Marquette scored a goal in double overtime to hand NDSU a heartbreaking 1-0 loss on September 17, 2021 in the first-ever meeting and then won 2-0 over the Bison last season on the opening weekend, with both matches coming at Valley Fields in Milwaukee.
Last Year Against Marquette
NDSU fell to Marquette 2-0 Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Valley Fields.
Marquette (2-0-0) scored on a corner kick to take the lead in the 40th minute and added a second goal on a counter attack in the 78th minute to hand NDSU its first loss of the season. Marquette outshot the Bison 14-5 in the contest.
Morgan Russmann nearly gave the Bison the lead in the 28th minute as her shot from outside the penalty area sailed just over the crossbar.
Early in the second half, Maeva Lichtensteiger fired a shot from the top of the penalty area that was tipped over for a corner. On the ensuing corner, Tyreese Zacher kicked in the ball from Mikayla Carkhuff at the back post, but the goal was immediately waved off for a foul on the other side of the box.
Russmann, Garrett Tabbed by Summit League as Players to Watch
Amaya Garrett and Morgan Russmann have been tabbed as Summit League Players to Watch in the league's preseason release.
Garrett and Russmann headline the returning group of Bison that features 14 upperclassmen and held NDSU claim the 2024 Summit League Regular Season Championship. The duo has started every game for the Bison since they stepped on campus; Garrett with 54 games started and Russmann with 39.
Mulberry Top 10 in Saves
Payton Mulberry moved into the NDSU Top 10 all-time in saves last season, surpassing Renee Keller (77, 1995). Mulberry closed the season at 93 career saves. Following the season opener, Mulberry sits at 99 career saves one behind the next spot on the Top 10 list, held by Karli Kopietz, 2005.
Looking Ahead
North Dakota State will remain at home and welcome in Minnesota on Thursday, August 20. The Bison and Golden Gophers are set for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Dacotah Field.
