FARGO, N.D. — The North Dakota State women's soccer team battled back in the final minutes to earn a 1-1 draw against Florida Atlantic Thursday evening at Dacotah Field.

After trailing for nearly the entire second half, the Bison found the equalizer in the 90th minute when Amaya Garrett took a pass from Isabel Garcia, outpaced her defender, and fired a shot in off the far post with 54 seconds left.

After NDSU dominated much of the first half, outshooting the Owls 6-2 and leading in corners 7-2, Florida Atlantic broke through just before halftime. Olivia Surprenant had an initial shot blocked but knocked in the rebound on a quick break to give the Owls a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

NDSU continued to pressure throughout the second half, putting five shots on goal after halftime. The Bison finished the night with 11 shots, including seven on target, while Florida Atlantic recorded 16 shots and eight on goal.

Payton Mulberry made six saves over 89 minutes. Following a red card in the 90th minute for Mulberry, freshman Harlow Berger entered goal and immediately made a save to preserve the 1-1 result.

The Bison, who are on a six-game unbeaten streak, close non-conference play at 2-3-4. NDSU will have a two-week break, returning to action September 24 at North Dakota for the Summit League opener.
