2020-21 SEASON (SENIOR): Eligible for a sixth year due to his 2018 injury, but opted out of playing once the season was postponed to the spring...Remained with the program as a student assistant coach in the fall semester.

2019 SEASON (JUNIOR): Played in 15 of 16 games with eight starts at linebacker...Missed the South Dakota game with a leg injury...Finished the season with 50 tackles including 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks...Had a forced fumble in the win over UC Davis and made his first career fumble recovery in the conference opener at Illinois State...Career-high eight tackles including four solo stops in the win at Youngstown State.

2018 SEASON (HARDSHIP): Granted a medical hardship year after suffering a season-ending injury during fall camp.

2017 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 15 games...Standout special teams player who made 12 tackles on kickoff or punt coverage with one forced fumble...Totaled 24 tackles including 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack...Career-high six tackles including four solo stops in the win at Indiana State.

2016 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Backup linebacker and special teams player slowed by a knee injury during the year...Saw action in one game at home against Youngstown State.

2015 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt in the Bison program...Named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year starter for Saint Mary's under coach Keith Minor...Played linebacker and running back...First team all-conference on defense...Charted over 200 tackles and 10 sacks in his career...Team won the 2013 North Coast Section Division 4 championship and went 21-6 over his final two seasons.

PERSONAL: Majoring in marketing and management...Son of Aaron and Kandie Mercadel of Oakland, Calif...Oldest of three children...Has a brother, Kahari, and a sister, Kaia.
