Bina on Battey: "Courtney filled in as our libero this spring with the graduation of Becky, and did a real good job of learning and developing in that position. A number of things with the libero position aren't associated with skill. There is a lot of leadership and court presence involved. Courtney understands the importance of her consistency. She worked hard becoming a more skilled player. Courtney is a fun defensive player because she tends to make the real amazing play. Courtney has the ability to play two or three positions in the backcourt, so that gives us flexibility either as a libero or defensive specialist."

The 2003 Season: Courtney was one of six players to see action in all 34 matches, playing in 113 games overall at either defensive specialist or libero ... Averaged 1.00 digs per game, and added 15 assists and four kills ... Recorded double-figure digs in three matches ... Twice came up with 11 digs, against Nova Southeasten (9-19-03) and SW Minnesota State (9-12-03).

High School Days: A 2002 graduate of Alexandria Jefferson High School ... Team leader in digs as a senior as the Cardinals posted a 27-5 record and advanced to the state tournament ... Also topped team in digs as a junior, as Alexandria went 29-3, advanced to the state tourney and was ranked No. 2 in Class AAA ... Member of Alexandria's 1999 state championship team, which went undefeated at 32-0 ... Alexandria was undefeated in Central Lakes Conference play during her three-year varsity career ... Member of the Alexandria J.O. Volleyball Club since third grade ... Played on four teams that advanced to national tournaments ... Captain of the 18U's team ... Also competed in track & field as a freshman and sophomore ... National Honor Society ... Member of choir ... Placed at DECA state competition ... Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll ...
