Border States congratulates Alex Talley, one of this week's Border States Electric Student-Athletes of the Week.
Talley, a junior engineering major from West Fargo, N.D., won the weight throw with a personal-best 70 feet, 2 1/4 inches (21.39m) as the NDSU men's indoor track and field team beat Northern Iowa and Utah State to win the Bison Team Cup for the second straight year. It was an improvement of more than two feet over Talley's previous best, and he now ranks fifth in the NCAA this season. Talley also placed second in the shot put with a mark of 61 feet, 7 1/4 inches (18.78m).
