Border States congratulates Shelby Gunnells, one of this week's Border States Electric Student-Athletes of the Week.
Gunnells, a senior from Solon, Iowa, has a 4.0 GPA in geology. She set a new career-best mark of 57 feet, 2 1/4 inches (17.43m) to move into second in NDSU history at the Bison Open. The throw shattered her old record of 55 feet, 7 3/4 inches (16.96). Gunnells currently ranks eighth in the NCAA. She also placed third in the weight throw with a throw of 61 feet, 10 1/2 inches (18.86m).
