Border States congratulates Jake Malec, one of this week's Border States Electric Student-Athletes of the Week.
Malec, an exercise science major, went 5-for-12 over the three game series with Oral Roberts. The Proctor, Minn. native had several key hits, including a decisive home run to beat the Golden Eagles 14-11 in Game #1 of the double-header on Saturday. The left fielder is second on the team with a .348 average and leads the team with five home runs.
Exhibiting a stellar performance in the classroom and in competition is no easy task. It takes tireless energy, passion and personal commitment to achieve excellence. It's this pursuit of excellence that helps the entire team succeed.
