BROOKINGS, S.D.--South Dakota State right-hander Tyson Bothof struck out eight in a complete game 10-1 college baseball win over North Dakota State on Saturday, April 16.

Bothof, a senior who transferred into the SDSU program this year from the University of Kansas, scattered eight Bison hits in the win and improved to 2-4 on the year.

The Jackrabbits (8-24) tallied five runs in the first inning and one in the second and third innings for a quick 7-0 advantage.

North Dakota State starter Shane Bushland was lifted after an inning and a third and dropped to 0-3 on the season. Bushland allowed six runs on six hits, walked three and fanned one.

Brandon Goltz was first the first line of relief for NDSU. He went 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on three hits, walking five and striking out three.

North Dakota State (2-26-1) scored its only run in the fifth inning when Jacorian Goldmann's two-out RBI double down the right-field line scored Reid Arnold, who led off with a single.

Arnold finished the game 2-for-3, while shortstop Matt Mossey and center fielder Tim Erickson were each 2-for-4.

The top two spots in the Jackrabbit lineup were a combined 6-for-10 in the game.

Leadoff center fielder Tim Hanigan was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, and right fielder Nick Adams was 3-for-5 with a double, four RBIs, two stolen bases and a run scored.

Games 2 and 3 of the series will be played as a doubleheader Sunday, April 17. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Bob Sheldon Field.
