BROOKINGS, S.D.--North Dakota State committed six errors in two games as South Dakota State swept a college baseball doubleheader from the Bison on Sunday, April 17. SDSU won 4-3 in the opener and 9-6 in the nightcap.
South Dakota State (10-24) scored only one earned run in the opener off Bison right-hander Jay Mitchell, who pitched all six innings, allowed six hits, two walks, and struck out three while dropping to 0-4 on the year.
After both teams scored twice in the first inning, North Dakota State (2-28-1) went ahead 3-2 in the third.
Matt Mossey led off with a double, Matt Freudenthal moved him to third with an infield ground out, and Kole Zimmerman's single to left field brought Mossey in.
SDSU knotted the game in the fourth with a Greg Geary leadoff home run, and the eventual game-winning run scored unearned on an outfielder's error with two outs.
The Bison jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the late game with a five-run fourth inning.
Tim Erickson led off with a walk, Nathan Thomas singled to center field, and Mossey had an RBI single before Zimmerman's two-run double put the Herd up 3-1.
An RBI ground out by Freudenthal followed, and an unearned run capped the inning.
SDSU trimmed the margin to 5-4 with three runs in its half of the fourth before the Bison put together three straight two-out singles in the fifth to go ahead 6-4.

Ford allowed six runs on six hits, walked one and struck out one but did not factor in the decision.
