OMAHA, Neb.--Creighton pitchers Marc Lewis and Pat Venditte combined for nine strikeouts to lead the Bluejays past North Dakota State 7-4 in college baseball Friday, March 16.

Lewis scattered six hits over five innings and struck out four to improve to 4-0. Venditte fanned five over the final four innings to pick up his second save of the season for Creighton (9-7).

The Bison (2-6) found their offense at the bottom of the order, where designated hitter Luke Otto, catcher Gavin Hofer and right fielder Billy Gazich each had two hits in the 7-8-9 spots.

Creighton had a six-run lead before Hofer and second baseman Matt Watson puts runs on the board for North Dakota State with RBI singles in the fifth to make it 6-2.

The Bluejays went up 7-2 with an RBI triple from Chris Gradoville in the sixth before NDSU scored twice in the seventh.

Otto singled and moved to second on a passed ball before scoring on a Hofer double, and Hofer scored on Gazich's RBI single the next play to make it 7-4.

North Dakota State starter Jake Laber was the losing pitcher. Laber allowed seven runs on 10 hits over six innings to drop to 1-2 on the year.

The schedule for the final three games of the four-game series has been altered. The teams will play a single game at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, and a doubleheader at noon Sunday, March 18.

The doubleheader was originally slated for Saturday followed by a single game Sunday.
