Bison Use Six-Run Second Inning to Beat Texas-Pan American, 8-2

EDINBURG, Texas--North Dakota State rallied for six runs in the second inning and cruised to an 8-2 victory over Texas-Pan American in Division I independent college baseball Friday, March 30.
North Dakota State's biggest run-scoring inning since an eight-run second in the 11-8 victory at Iowa last April 18 snapped an 11-game losing streak for NDSU (3-13).
The Bison took advantage of wild Texas-Pan American pitching in the early rally. After Luke Otto doubled in Ryan Langlais with the game's first run, UTPA starter Cody Cisper beaned three straight batters to force in two runs and make the score 3-0.
NDSU scored again on a fielder's choice before Langlais got his second hit of the inning, a two-run single past third base that plated Greg Plecki and Matt Mossey.
That was more than enough for Bison pitcher Jake Laber, who tossed his fourth career complete game to even his record at 2-2. Laber allowed two unearned runs on four singles, walked three and struck out six.
North Dakota State tacked on two insurance runs with solo home runs by Matt Watson in the eighth and Plecki in the ninth.
The Bison play Texas-Pan American (11-22) for the second of the three-game series Saturday at 5 p.m.
