FARGO, N.D.--Southern Utah completed a three-game sweep of North Dakota State in Summit League baseball with 8-6 and 2-1 victories Sunday, April 13, at Newman Outdoor Field.

Southern Utah improved to 17-14 overall and 5-2 in The Summit League. North Dakota State lost its 13th straight game to fall to 6-20 overall and 0-7 in the league.

Ryan Langlais and Shannon Ekermans both hit 3-for-4 in the first game for NDSU. Eric Nutzhorn was 1-for-3 with a two-run single in the first inning.

North Dakota State got four runs off Southern Utah starter Alec Reichle before Kyle Hamman came on to strike out seven batters in six innings of relief. Hamman held the Bison to one earned run on seven hits and two walks to even his record at 1-1.

NDSU starter Matt Bowar was responsible for eight runs on 14 hits with two walks and one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings. Bowar dropped to 0-5 with the loss.

Langlais hit an RBI double to give NDSU a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning of Game 2, but Southern Utah answered in the sixth. Joe Wright delivered a two-out RBI single down the left-field line, and Jacob Romney followed with a double that got past right fielder Luke Otto and scored Wright with the eventual winning run.

Seven different players each had one hit for the Bison. SUU pitcher Dustin Wittwer (4-3) struck out seven batters in the complete game win, while Ben Mathiason (2-5) fanned eight and allowed six hits in a complete-game loss.
