
Satzinger Doubles in Three as Bison Win Opener at Missouri State, 6-3

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.--Second baseman Wes Satzinger's three-run double keyed North Dakota State to a 6-3 victory over Missouri State in college baseball Friday, March 5, at Hammons Field.
Center fielder Michael Riewer and left fielder Justin Kline each had three hits for North Dakota State, which evened its record at 2-2.
NDSU trailed 1-0 through three innings before starting the fourth with three straight singles from Kline, first baseman Zach Wentz, and Riewer.
Satzinger followed with his team-leading fourth double of the year to give NDSU a 3-1 lead. He was 1-for-2 with two walks and leads the Bison with nine RBIs through the first four games.
NDSU got three more runs with two out sin the seventh. Riewer bounced a single through the middle to score catcher Tanner Adam with the eventual winning run, and designated hitter Eric Nutzhorn drove in two more with a single to left field to give the Bison a 6-2 lead.
Starting pitcher McHale Maristuen held Missouri State (1-6) to one unearned run on four hits with five strikeouts in five innings and improved to 1-0 on the year.
Jason Mattila struck out three batters over the final two scoreless innings for his first save of the year.
Kevin Medrano and Christian Overstreet each had two hits for Missouri State, and Bears starter Aaron Meade (0-2) struck out six in 6 1/3 innings.
The four-game series continues with a noon doubleheader Saturday, March 6.
