"Leaving NDSU is very difficult," said Schneweis. "This has been a great place to work the last two years. I'd like to thank Women's Athletic Director Lynn Dorn and head coach Mark Cook for believing in me when he became the head coach and for their support throughout this process. I'm very sad to be leaving this place, in particular, the student-athletes I was so very fortunate to have coached, but Concordia College is a terrific fit for me both personally and professionally, and I'm excited to get started in the next chapter of my career."
Schneweis has been an assistant coach at NDSU since March. Prior to assuming that role, he served as the director of operations for the past two seasons.
In his role as director of operations, he gained experience in making travel arrangements, editing game video, coordinating film exchange and running camps. The Bison won the Summit League tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division I tournament for the first time in program history in his first season. In 2011, the Bison won a school record 15 games and advanced to the Summit League title game.
"I wish nothing but the best for Ben in his new position at Concordia College," said head coach Mark Cook. "It is always disappointing to lose a quality coach like Ben, however the opportunity to lead your own program is something that most coaches cannot pass up. I want to thank him for the two and a half years of hard work and dedication he has shown to NDSU soccer. Concordia is not only getting a great coach, but also an outstanding person and he was certainly the right choice for their next head men's soccer coach."
