Bison Women Host Thundering Herd Classic this Weekend

The North Dakota State women's track & field team will host the Thundering Herd Classic on Friday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 7, inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
The Thundering Herd Classic is the third of four home indoor meets for the Bison this season, who will also host the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 27-28.
Friday's action starts with the pentathlon 60m hurdles and the men's weight throw at 3 p.m. The first day of the heptathlon will begin at 3:30 p.m. This year's meet will also feature a distance medley relay at 7:40 p.m. on Friday evening.
On Saturday, action gets underway with the heptathlon 60m hurdles at 10:30 a.m. and unseeded sections of the mile at 10:50 a.m.
In addition to NCAA mile leader Erin Teschuk, the Bison women boast four more athletes who are currently ranked among the top 50 performers in the nation in their respective events. Senior Emily Lesser is No. 31 in the shot put after a school-record mark on Jan. 31 at Minnesota, and sophomore Rose Jackson is No. 37 in the pentathlon. Senior Maddie Van Beek is 38th in the nation in the 3,000 meters, while junior Anna Benke is 48th in the pole vault.
Other current Summit League leaders for NDSU include sophomore Amy Andrushko in the 800m, sophomore Katelyn Weimerskirch in the weight throw and Jackson in the long jump.
