TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State baseball team (5-11, 1-2 Summit League) dropped the final game of a three-game series at Oral Robert (9-8, 2-1 Summit League) Sunday, March 15, at J.L. Johnson Stadium, 4-3.
The Bison are scheduled to travel to Missouri State on Wednesday, March 18, for a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
Ben Petersen and Taylor Sanders tallied the only pair of hits in the game for the Bison. Danny Regan collected a RBI for NDSU.
Trent Keefer (1-2) suffered the loss on the mound for NDSU after allowing two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in eight innings of work.
The Golden Eagles broke a scoreless draw in the bottom of the sixth inning, plating a pair of runs on a double and a sacrifice fly to gain a 2-0 lead.
The Bison fought back in the top of the seventh, though, tying the game at two on an Oral Roberts fielding error and a sacrifice fly from Regan.
NDSU took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth after Jon Hechtner scored on an ORU wild pitch. The lead was short-lived, however, as Oral Roberts regained a 4-3 advantage in the bottom-half of the frame on a RBI single and sacrifice fly.
Noah Cummings paced Oral Roberts offensively, going 2-for-4 with a RBI, while Kyler Stout (1-1) tallied the victory on the mound for ORU after pitching two innings in relief.
Oral Roberts starter Xavier Altamirano went seven innings, striking out a game-high 14 batters, while allowing just one hit and walking none.
