The North Dakota State women's track & field team will travel to the Bay Area in California this weekend to compete in three meets on Friday, Apr. 3, and Saturday, Apr. 4.
Several Bison women who met qualifying standards will compete at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif., on Friday afternoon and evening. They include Sierra Rosenau (javelin), Emily Lesser (shot put and hammer throw), Courtney Pasiowitz (shot put), Kelsey Laufenberg (shot put), Katelyn Weimerskirch (shot put), Ashley Heinze (400m hurdles), Melissa Kitching (400m hurdles), Morgan Milbrath (400m hurdles), Erin Teschuk (1500m) and Maddie Van Beek (5,000m).
Also on Friday evening, sophomores Taylor Janssen and Tarin Lachowitzer will run the 5,000 meters at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in San Francisco.
On Saturday, NDSU will compete in the Mondo Mid-Major Challenge hosted by Sacramento State – a Division I scored meet with teams from Fresno State, Cal State Northridge, Utah State, Wichita State and Sacramento State. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. (CT) / 9:30 a.m. (PT), and running events start at 1:45 p.m. (CT) / 11:45 a.m. (PT).
The Bison women enter this weekend with eight individuals currently ranked among the nation's top 40 in their respective events, led by Teschuk at No. 2 in the NCAA in the 800m. Van Beek is ranked eighth nationally in the 1500m, Lesser is 15th in the shot put, and sophomore Rose Jackson is 19th in the heptathlon.
NDSU owns the top mark in The Summit League in all four throwing events so far this season. Lesser leads the league in the shot put and hammer throw, Weimerskirch is first in the discus, and Rosenau tops the conference in the javelin.
