Bison Women Earn More Personal-Bests on Final Day in California

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team concluded its four-day stay in southern California with a number of Summit League-leading and personal-best marks on Saturday. The Bison women competed at both the Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays.
Bison junior Morgan Milbrath posted a personal-best time of 59.13 in the 400m hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing eighth overall but fourth among collegiate athletes. She now ranks fifth in NDSU history and leads The Summit League this year in the event.
Rose Jackson, Milbrath, Amy Andrushko and Alexis Woods teamed up to run 3:41.08 in the 4x400m relay for 10th place at Mt. SAC.
At the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State, NDSU's Katelyn Weimerskirch (167-3 / 50.98m) and Maddy Nilles (164-11 / 50.28m) finished first and second among collegians in the discus.
Freshman Shelby Gunnells led the group of Bison women in the shot put at the Beach Invitational with a big personal-best of 49-08.50 (15.15m). Gunnells placed fifth in the meet and is now ranked fifth in school history in the event. Junior Courtney Pasiowitz took seventh at 49-02.25 (14.99m).
Junior Anna Benke cleared an outdoor personal-best of 13-00.25 (3.97m) in the pole vault to rank third all-time at NDSU. Brittany Stangl vaulted 12-06.25 (3.82m).
Andrushko, the Summit League leader in the 800, clocked 2:10.15 at the Beach Invitational. Woods ran 55.60 in the 400m dash for 10th place.
Freshman Dakota Wood posted a season-best time of 14.76 in the 100m hurdles.
Former NDSU All-American Deborah John ran a career-best 13.14 in the 100m hurdles twice on Saturday – first at Long Beach, then again later in the day at the Mt. SAC Relays.
The Bison will compete at home on Apr. 22-23 next weekend, hosting the Lyle Hokanson Classic at Schlanser Track on the NDSU campus.
