Weimerskirch, Frost Take Top Two Places in Hammer Throw at Lyle Hokanson Classic

FARGO, N.D. – Junior Katelyn Weimerskirch won the hammer throw to get the North Dakota State women's track & field team started at the Lyle Hokanson Classic on Friday afternoon.
The Bison women took the top two places in the hammer throw with Weimerskirch throwing 194-5 (59.25m) and sophomore Hannah Frost at 182-6 (55.64m). NDSU junior Courtney Pasiowitz threw 178-2 (54.30m) for sixth place. Freshman Shelby Gunnells was seventh with a mark of 174-1 (53.06m).
Weimerskirch was 16 inches short of Emily Lesser's facility record of 195-9.
Sophomore Jaelin Beachy leads the heptathlon after the first day of competition, scoring 2,680 points through the first four events. Bison freshman Maea Wall is in second with 2,598 points.
Beachy closed the day with a pair of strong events, throwing a personal-best mark of 38-09.00 (11.81m) in the shot put and running 27.29 in the 200m dash.
Saturday's competition will get started with the resumption of the multi-events at 10 a.m., followed by the javelin at 11 a.m. and the running events at 1:45 p.m.
