Bison Track & Field to Open 2017 Outdoor Season at Arizona State this Weekend

The North Dakota State men's and women's track & field teams will open the 2017 outdoor season at the Baldy Castillo Invitational hosted by Arizona State University on Mar. 17-18.
Teams expected to compete include Minnesota, Kentucky, Texas A&M, South Dakota, Ohio State, Air Force, Oklahoma, Iowa and host Arizona State.
Competition begins at 3:40 p.m. (CT) / 1:40 p.m. local on Friday, Mar. 17, with the men's hammer throw, and the women's hammer throw is scheduled to follow. On Saturday, events begin with the men's discus at 12:30 p.m. CT / 10:30 a.m. local, and running events start at 4 p.m. CT.
The Bison women will only compete in the throwing events at the Baldy Castillo Invitational, while the NDSU men will compete in wider variety of events including the 200m, 400m, 800m, 400m hurdles and throws.
The NDSU women and men were both picked to win Summit League outdoor team titles in the league's preseason poll. The Bison women have won nine straight team championships, while the men have won eight of nine and seven consecutive crowns.
