Jackson Wins UC Riverside Heptathlon with Second-Best Score in NDSU History

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – North Dakota State senior Rose Jackson recorded a career-best score of 5,540 points to win the heptathlon at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic on Friday.
Jackson's score was a new personal-best by 271 points. It was the second-best heptathlon performance in NDSU history, coming up only 16 points short of Whitney Carlson's school record of 5,556 at the 2011 NCAA Championships.
Jackson ranks No. 1 in the NCAA early this outdoor season. She opened Friday by matching her outdoor personal-best of 19-11.50 (6.08m) in the long jump, then threw a personal-best 108-6 (33.08m) in the javelin.
Bison junior Amanda Levin also scored a career-high, finishing with 4,917 points to take fifth place in the meet. Levin now ranks seventh all-time at NDSU.
NDSU freshman Macy Denzer placed sixth with 4,720 points in her first heptathlon, and senior Lexy Boschee was seventh with 4,472 points in her first competition of the year. NDSU redshirt freshman Maea Wall scored 4,439 to take eighth in her heptathlon debut.
The UC Riverside Spring Track Classic will conclude on Saturday.
