NDSU Women’s Track & Field Wins Six Titles on Final Day at UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team won six events Saturday on the final day of the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic, but one of the top performances for the Bison was a third-place finish in the triple jump.
Redshirt freshman Bailey DeMar (Bethel, Minn.) recorded the best triple jump by a Bison woman since 2012, leaping 38-10.50 (11.85m) to rank 10th in NDSU history. It was a personal-best mark by nearly two feet.
The Bison recorded two new career-bests and swept the top two places in the mile. Senior Taylor Janssen won with a time of 4:53.93, and sophomore Kayla Huhnerkoch was the runner-up in 4:54.26.
NDSU's Morgan Milbrath remained undefeated in the 400m dash this year, winning in 55.42 on Saturday. In seven 400m races this season, Milbrath has seven first-place finishes.
Bison freshman Lexy Wittmayer (Rolette, N.D.) won the high jump title, clearing 5-07.00 (1.70m). Sophomore Klara Lyon took first in the pole vault, and junior Lauren Gietzen placed second. Both cleared 12-05.50 (3.80m).
NDSU senior Amy Andrushko opened her outdoor season with a victory in the 800m, running 2:10.49. Bison senior Jenny Guibert was fifth in 2:12.25, and sophomore Annika Rotvold took sixth in 2:13.56.
The Bison women ended the meet with a victory in the 4x400m relay with the team of Alexis Woods, Milbrath, Gabby Grommesh and Andrushko. Woods was the 400m dash runner-up behind Milbrath in 55.62.
