North Dakota State Women Finish Strong at Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team closed out a stretch of four meets in four days with a series of impressive performances at the Beach Invitational on Saturday.
Senior Morgan Milbrath raced to a lifetime-best time of 53.22 in the 400m dash, finishing as the top collegiate athlete in the meet behind two professionals. Her performance is the second-fastest in NDSU history and ranks among the top 25 in the NCAA this year.
Junior Alexis Woods improved her outdoor personal-best in the 400m for the second time this week, clocking 54.29. She ranks No. 7 all-time at NDSU in the event.
Milbrath, Woods, Amy Andrushko and Rose Jackson teamed up to win the 4x400m relay in a meet record 3:36.35. The quartet ranks sixth-fastest in NDSU history.
NDSU sophomore Shelby Gunnells became the fifth Bison woman to reach 50 feet in the outdoor shot put, throwing 50-00.00 (15.24m) on Saturday.
Andrushko clocked a career-best 2:07.42 in the 800m to place fourth in the meet and move up to seventh all-time at NDSU.
Sophomores Annika Rotvold (4:30.24) and Kayla Huhnerkoch (4:30.55) both ran personal-bests in the 1500m at Long Beach. They now rank eighth and ninth, respectively, in NDSU history.
Pole vaulters Anna Benke and Lauren Gietzen both cleared 12-09.50 (3.90m). It was the second-best outdoor performance of Gietzen's career, behind only her 4.06m clearance on Thursday.
NDSU junior sprinter Gabby Grommesh ran a personal-best 24.96 in the 200m dash. Sophomore Dakota Wood posted a season-best of 14.87 in the 100m hurdles.
The Bison return home to host the Lyle Hokanson Classic on Apr. 21-22 in Fargo.
