Bison Track & Field Makes Home Outdoor Debut this Weekend

The North Dakota State women's and men's track & field teams will host the Lyle Hokanson Classic and Team Nodak Multi-Events this Friday, Apr. 21, and Saturday, Apr. 22, for their first home outdoor meets this year.
Both events will run concurrently at Schlanser Track and the Ellig Sports complex on the NDSU campus. Friday's action includes the decathlon starting at noon and the heptathlon at 12:30 p.m., followed by the hammer throw competition at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, the decathlon resumes at 10 a.m. and the heptathlon at 10:30 a.m. Field events begin with the women's javelin at 11 a.m., and running events kick off at 1:30 p.m. with the 3,000m steeplechase.
Teams expected to compete include South Dakota State, North Dakota, MSU Moorhead, Mary, Northern State, Minot State, Bemidji State and Concordia Moorhead.
This will be the first of three home meets this outdoor season for the Bison, who will also host the NDSU Tune-Up on May 5 and the Summit League Outdoor Championships on May 11-13.
The Bison women currently lead The Summit League in 10 of the 21 events, and the NDSU men are No. 1 in the league in six events. In the throwing events, NDSU has seven of the eight No. 1 rankings in the league between men and women.
