The North Dakota State University women's and men's track & field teams will travel to the Bay Area in California this weekend to compete in a pair of meets on Friday, Mar. 30, and Saturday, Mar. 31.
The Bison will take part in both the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif., and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival held at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif.
NDSU has 11 field event performances that rank among the top 20 in the NCAA this season, led by senior Alyssa Olin at No. 1 in the women's javelin and junior Payton Otterdahl at No. 2 in the men's shot put. Matt Neururer stands sixth in the nation in the decathlon, and Maddy Nilles is eighth in the women's hammer throw.
The Bison women lead The Summit League in all four throwing events early this season, with Olin (javelin), Nilles (hammer), Amanda Anderson (discus) and Courtney Pasiowitz (shot put) topping the performance lists. The NDSU men are No. 1 in the league in three of the four throwing events, with Otterdahl (shot put), Steffan Stroh (hammer) and Austin Schmidt (javelin) leading the way.
A pair of former Bison now competing professionally will also run at the Stanford Invitational on Friday evening. Maddie Van Beek will take part in the 3000m steeplechase, and Erin Teschuk will run the 1500m.
