DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State men's track & field team continued competition at the Drake Relays on Friday, posting high finishes in the throwing events and a season-best time in the 4x400m relay.
The Bison men finished second, fifth and ninth in the shot put with Payton Otterdahl (60-06.75 / 18.46m), Steffan Stroh (58-10.75 / 17.95m) and Michael Keogan (56-06.75 / 17.24m). Keogan's throw came within an inch of his personal-best mark in the event.
NDSU senior Austin Schmidt took third in the javelin, throwing 202-11 (61.86m).
J.T. Butler, Jacob Richter, Byrne Curl and Matt Neururer ran 3:15.35 in the 4x400m relay for ninth place, missing the finals by only one spot. The Bison now rank No. 2 in The Summit League this year in the event.
In the 4x100m relay, Butler, Tatenda Dzvokora, Alex Brosseau and Ben Klimpke ran 41.67 for 10th place.
Bison sophomore Elliott Stone ran a season-best 14:36.35 in the Drake Relays 5000m Thursday night, ranking him fourth in The Summit League this year.
