Bison Women Put Four on Track & Field Academic All-League Team

The North Dakota State women's track & field team claimed a league-best four spots on The Summit League's Academic All-League team announced Thursday, May 31, for the 2018 outdoor season.
Bison seniors Alyssa Olin and Courtney Pasiowitz and juniors Annika Rotvold and Shelby Gunnells all earned spots on the team by virtue of their athletic and academic achievements.
Nineteen athletes on the NDSU women's track & field team earned a 4.0 grade point average in the spring semester, including NCAA West Prelims qualifiers Alexis Woods, Lauren Gietzen, Amanda Anderson, Olin, Pasiowitz and Gunnells.
Olin (Mott, N.D.) is ranked second in the NCAA in the javelin and will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 7. She won her second straight Summit League javelin title and led the rest of the league by 21 feet. Olin has a 3.61 GPA as a zoology (pre-optometry) major.
Pasiowitz (Coon Rapids, Minn.) owns a 3.88 GPA with a major in human development and family science. She captured the Summit League championship in the shot put and ranked 27th in the NCAA this season, as well as placing seventh in the hammer throw at the league meet.
Rotvold (Hillsboro, N.D.) is a biological sciences major with a 4.0 GPA. She owned The Summit League's top time in the 1500m this year by a two-second margin and placed fourth in the steeplechase, fifth in the 5,000m, and fifth in the 1500m at the conference meet.
Gunnells (Solon, Iowa) owns a 4.0 GPA with a major in geology. She ranked 49th in the NCAA in the hammer throw and 51st in the NCAA in the shot put this season, placing third at the conference meet in both events.
To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
