NDSU Women’s Track & Field Hosts Bison Open for Final Home Meet

The North Dakota State University women's track & field team returns home to host the Bison Open on Friday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
The Bison Open begins at 3 p.m. on Friday with the pentathlon 60m hurdles and the men's weight throw. Running events start at 6:30 on Friday evening. On Saturday, the meet resumes with the conclusion of the heptathlon at 10 a.m., with field events and running events starting at 1 p.m.
The NDSU women currently have six performances that rank among the Top 25 in the nation this season, plus three more in the NCAA's Top 50. Senior thrower Bailey Retzlaff is the highest-ranked at No. 6 nationally in the shot put, as well as ranking 23rd in the weight throw.
Junior Maddy Nilles ranks eighth in the weight throw, and Akealy Moton and Shelby Gunnells are 19th and 20th, respectively, on the national performance list in the shot put. Sophomore Kelby Anderson is No. 17 nationally in the 3000m.
NDSU's early-season Summit League leaders include Annika Rotvold (mile), Anderson (3000m), Bailey DeMar (triple jump), Retzlaff (shot put) and Nilles (weight throw).
NDSU is ranked ninth in the women's rankings for the Midwest Region this season – the highest-ranked non-Power 5 school in the region.
The Bison women have won 11 consecutive Summit League indoor team titles since joining the league.
