
Four Bison Soccer Players Honored by The Summit League

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Four North Dakota State soccer players were honored by The Summit League, it was announced on Wednesday, Nov. 6, by the league office.
Senior Elyse Huber earned All-Summit League First Team honors, while fellow senior Monica Polgar was selected to the second team. Freshmen Lavin Douglass and McKenna Strand were named to the Summit League All-Freshman Team.
Huber appeared in 17 matches with 14 starts, as she led the Bison in points (24), goals (11) and assists (2). She had five-game winning goals and scored the first goal in a match five times. She finished the season with 79 shots, with 40 of them coming on goal. Huber's eight points and four goals scored against Eastern Washington are tied for the second most in school history. Huber finished the season ranked third in school history in shots on goal per game (2.35), tied for third in game-winning goals (5) and tied for shots attempted (79). Huber was also fourth in goals per game (.65), shots on goal (40) and shots per game (4.65). Her 11 goals were tied for the sixth most in school history.
Polgar earned All-Summit League Second Team honors for the second time in her career, as she was also named to the second team as a freshman. For the second-straight year, Polgar appeared in the net for every minute of the season, tallying 1680 minutes this season. Polgar had a .96 goals against average, while tallying 110 saves with an 8-7-3 record. Polgar pitched six shutouts with a .859 save percentage. One of the top keepers in school history, Polgar is scattered across the Bison record books. She holds the school record for shutouts with 21, while also ranking third in wins (34), third in saves (317), third in minutes played (5,801) and fourth in saves per game (4.88). She ranked fifth in school history in goals against average (1.24) and eighth in save percentage (.798). During the 2019 campaign, she ranked second in school history in saves per game (6.11), third in saves (110), sixth in save percentage (.859) and ninth in goals against average (.96).
Douglass appeared in all 18 matches with 16 starts, as she tallied 1,384 minutes on the season. Douglass had 20 shots, with three coming on goal. Douglass scored her first career goal in a 2-1 win over South Dakota.
Strand became a key part of the Bison defense late in the season, appearing in 17 matches with seven starts. In 950 minutes, Strand had two shots on goal. Strand was part of a Bison defense that pitched six shutouts.
The Bison finished the season 8-7-3 overall and 3-3-2 in the Summit League.
