FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team began another season on Friday night at the Dakota Classic, and in much the same way it spent last year – with Otterdahls launching huge distances in the throwing events.

Trevor Otterdahl threw a career-best 70-02.50 (21.40m) to win the weight throw and establish a new personal-best by more than four and a half feet. He now ranks second in NDSU history behind only his brother (and NCAA champion)

NDSU junior
Alex Talley threw a personal-best 64-01.25 (19.54m) to win the shot put, ranking him second in NDSU indoor history. That mark would have qualified him for the NCAA Indoor Championships last season. Bison sophomore
Kristoffer Thomsen moved up to No. 3 all-time at NDSU in the shot put, throwing an indoor PR of 63-03.75 (19.30m).

Maxwell Otterdahl, a freshman and the youngest of the three Otterdahl brothers, set an all-time record for an NDSU freshman with a shot put mark of 62-08.50 (19.11m). Trevor threw 59-01.25 (18.01m) for a personal-best by more than two feet, moving up to eighth in NDSU history.

Michael Keogan posted a weight throw career-best of 64-10.00 (19.76m), ranking him seventh all-time at NDSU.

Josh Knutson won the Dakota Classic 400m dash in 49.04. NDSU's
Darrien Lipscomb was second in 49.10, and Bison freshman
Adrian Harris was third in 49.12 for his collegiate debut.

Ben Klimpke won the pentathlon with a score of 3,804 points, ranking third all-time at NDSU.
Eric VanErp scored 3,698 competing unattached, which would rank sixth in NDSU history.

Trent Davis (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) won the 60m hurdles in 8.46 seconds for his collegiate debut. Junior
Alex Brosseau took the 60m dash title in 7.01 seconds.

Marcus Walton won the high jump, clearing 6-10.25 (2.09m). Bison freshmen
Elijah Hylen (Saint Francis, Minn.) and
Josh Darwin (Wahpeton, N.D.) both cleared 6-08.25 (2.04m) in their NDSU high jump debuts.
