Levin’s Long Jump Highlights Bison Effort in Florida

BRADENTON, Fla. – North Dakota State track & field athlete Amanda Levin opened her senior outdoor season with a pair of event victories on Saturday at the IMG Academy Invitational in Bradenton, Fla.
Levin started the day with a career-best in the long jump, leaping 20-00.25 (6.10m) for the win. She became only the fifth woman in NDSU outdoor history to go over 20 feet in the long jump.
Levin (1:02.51) and junior Paige Harris (1:04.85) finished 1-2 in the 400m hurdles. Both clocked the second-fastest times of their careers.
Bison redshirt freshman Kelby Anderson won the 800m (2:14.59) and 1500m (4:32.52), posting personal-best times in both.
Freshman Rhaeghn Gripentrog ran a personal-best 12.52 to win the 100m dash and came back later to claim the 200m title in 25.51.
Sophomore Alyssa Lind took the 400m dash title in 56.50 – the third-fastest outdoor time of her career. Freshman Grace Zimmerman was the runner-up in 57.43.
Bison sophomore Michaela Baker ran a personal-best 14.47 to win the 100m hurdles, and senior Dakota Wood clocked a 14.71 for second.
Bison junior Jocelyn Dinius won the pole vault, clearing 11-11.25 (3.64m). Junior Kennedi Sand took first in the high jump at 5-01.75 (1.57m).
NDSU's throwers competed at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
Junior Bailey Retzlaff won the shot put in Tempe, as the Bison women swept the top three places in the event. Retzlaff threw 53-07.50 (16.34m), and redshirt freshman Akealy Moton entered the NDSU all-time Top 10 at No. 4, throwing 52-10.25 (16.11m). Junior Maggie Schwarzkopf placed third at 49-11 (15.21m).
NDSU sophomore Amanda Anderson threw an outdoor personal-best of 46-03.25 (14.10m) in the shot put. In the discus, she posted a mark of 169-11 (51.80m) on her first attempt of the season, finishing fourth. She was just eight inches short of her PR from last season which ranks third in school history.
