TOLEDO, Ohio – North Dakota State lost a pair of matches, 3-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-23, 25-17) to Loyola-Chicago and 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-23) to Western Kentucky, at Toledo's Blue & Gold Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 31, in Savage Arena.

NDSU (1-2) is scheduled to open against Illinois-Chicago at 9 a.m. CT Friday, Sept. 6 in the first match of the Central Michigan Chippewa Invitational.

Loyola-Chicago (1-1) rallied from a 19-15 deficit for a 25-23 win in the pivotal third set.
Allie Mauch led the Bison with 13 kills,
Kalli Hegerle and
Kelley Johnson combined for 31 assists, and
Kaylee Hanger and
Abbi Klos added 12 and 10 digs respectively. Hegerle matched a career-high with five blocks.

Lauren Matthews connected for 17 kills and Paige Briggs had 15 as Western Kentucky (3-0) hit .295 to turn back NDSU. Briggs led the Hilltoppers with 16 digs, while Nadia Dieudonne dished out 42 assists. Hanger finished with 15 digs, while
Bella Lien and
Emily Halverson each had three blocks.
Hegerle was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 4.60 assists, 2.40 digs, 1.60 kills and 0.90 blocks per set. She recorded her first career 'triple-double' with 18 assists, 10 kills and 10 digs in season-opener at Toledo on Aug. 30.
