The North Dakota State University men's track & field team will travel to the Summit League Indoor Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind., this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29, in search of its eighth league indoor championships in the past 13 years.
Purdue Fort Wayne is hosting the meet at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse on campus. The meet begins with multi-events action at 9:30 a.m. (ET) / 8:30 a.m. (CT) both days. Running events begin at 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday and noon CT on Saturday.
The Bison men were picked to finish second in the Summit League preseason poll, but pre-meet rankings have NDSU projected as the team champion over South Dakota State and South Dakota. SDSU won its first team conference title last season, beating the Bison by a slim 13-point margin.
NDSU enters the meet with league leaders in four events – junior Alex Talley in the shot put and weight throw, sophomore Jacob Rodin in the 800m, and junior Alex Bartholomay in the mile. Bartholomay also ranks second in the league this season in the 3000m.
NDSU holds the top four spots on the Summit League performance list in the 800m this season – and all four are sophomores – with Josh Samyn, Beau Brannan and Keiser Freetly joining Rodin.
The Bison have the top five shot put performers, and six of the top seven, in the league.
