Moton Improves Shot Put School Record, Ranks 2nd in NCAA

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State sophomore Akealy Moton tacked a foot onto her outdoor school record in the shot put, headlining the efforts of the Bison women's track & field team at the NDSU Spring Classic on Friday.
Moton threw 58-04.50 (17.79m) to win the shot put, moving into the NCAA lead briefly for the outdoor season before being bumped to No. 2 on the national performance list. She extended her school record for the second straight week – this time by nearly 13 inches.
Moton also threw 160-9 (49.01m) in the javelin, moving to No. 32 on the NCAA performance list in her season debut for the event.
Bison junior Kari Wolfe threw a personal-best 174-0 (53.05m) to win the javelin, climbing to No. 8 in the nation this season.
Tasha Willing moved up to sixth on the NDSU all-time list in the outdoor shot put, throwing 52-1 (15.87m) to rank among the top 40 in the NCAA this season.
Kendra Kelley won the 100m dash in 11.81, ranking fifth in NDSU history.
Michaela Hawkins threw 162-9 (49.61m) in the discus, moving up to No. 5 on the NDSU all-time list.
Ansley Schug won the 100m hurdles in a personal-best 14.14, and later ran a PR of 1:03.91 for second place in the 400m hurdles.
Alissa Melvin won the triple jump with a mark of 37-10.75 (11.55m) – the best of her collegiate career.
Other NDSU women's event champions included Annika Rotvold (1500m), Maddy Nilles (hammer), Bailey Cowling (high jump), Jodi Lipp (long jump), Klara Lyon (pole vault), the 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay.
Lipp posted a personal-best mark of 19-06.00 (5.94m) to win the long jump.
