Women's Golf

Bison Women Open Play at Summit League Golf Championship

NEWTON, Kan. - The North Dakota State women's golf team opened play Saturday at the Summit League Championship. NDSU shot a 319 in the opening round and sits in sixth place.

NDSU is a stroke behind Oral Roberts for fifth, while holding a four-stroke lead over Omaha. Denver, ranked 39th in the country, has the team lead with a 289. Denver's Alyson Bean and Anna Zanusso are tied for the individual lead, after they each shot a two-under 70 in the opening round.

Lexi Geolat led the Bison in the opening round, as she is tied for 14th with a 76. Geolat had three eagles in the opening round, including two in her final three holes. Taylor McCorkle and Alexis Thomas are tied for 25th, as they each shot an 80. McCorkle had three birdies in the first round, while Thomas had a pair on the back nine.

Maddie Herzog is tied for 31st with an 83 in the first round. Herzog had a birdie on the second hole. Catherine Monty rounded out the Bison lineup with a 94, as she is in 39th.

NDSU will tee-off for the second round at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.
