Bison Set for Four-Game Series at Dixie State

THIS WEEK
The North Dakota State (3-1) baseball team is back on the road this week for a four-game series at Dixie State (1-2). The Bison open the series on Friday at 5:05 p.m. CT at Bruce Hurst Field. NDSU will then play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:05 p.m. CT, before closing the series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. CT
SCHEDULE UPDATE
Due to weather and temperature in St. George, Friday's start time has been shifted from 7:05 p.m. CT to 5:05 p.m. CT. Sunday's start time has also been moved from 1:05 p.m. CT to 2:05 p.m. CT

STARTING FAST
After dropping the season opener at Abilene Christian, NDSU bounced back to win its next three games and win the series, 3-1. It marks the second straight season the Bison have begun the season winning the opening series. Last season, NDSU went on the road and dropped the season opener at Western Kentucky before winning the next two games to take the series, 2-1.
SUMMIT LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Evan Sankey was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. The Appleton, Wis., native tossed three strikeouts over five shutout innings in the 4-0 win against Abilene Christian. Sankey limited the Wildcats to a .250 batting average with no walks and five hits.
EVERYONE CONTRIBUTED
NDSU compiled 38 total hits last week with six different players contributing at least three. The Bison also had six players register a .375 batting average or better. Will Busch and Druw Sackett each posted a team-best .556 batting average.
ROEHRICH HAS CAREER DAY
Tristen Roehrich closed out the final 4.0 innings in the season opener against Abilene Christian. He fired a game-high and career-best seven strikeouts and limited the Wildcats to a .200 batting average.
DREW CLOSES THINGS OUT
Jake Drew picked up two saves against Abilene Christian to increase his career total to six. His two saves are tied for first in the nation. Drew is 1-of-16 players in the country to register two saves so far this season.
STEALING THOSE BASES
The Bison stole 13 bases last week with nine different players notching at least one. Cadyn Schwabe led the way stealing a team-high four bases on four attempts. NDSU ranks seventh in the nation in stolen bases (13) and 13th in stolen bases per game (3.25).
NELSON NAMED TO NCBWA STOPPER OF THE YEAR PRESEASON WATCH LIST
Wyatt Nelson has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List, which given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball. Nelson is one of 66 initial members and the only player in the Summit League to appear on the list.
Nelson has made 24 total appearances out of the bullpen with a 2.87 ERA over three seasons. He has notched a 2-2 overall record with 22 strikeouts. Last season, Nelson made 20 appearances with 19 strikeouts and registered seven saves, which ranked fifth on the NDSU single season list. His seven saves also rank ninth all-time in NDSU history.
SCOUTING DIXIE STATE
Dixie State enters the week with a 1-2 overall record following a three-game series at Arizona State last week. In their most recent contest, the Trailblazers fell short against the Sun Devils, 17-8. Kaden Hollow went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs and two RBI. The Trailblazers were originally scheduled to play UNLV on Tuesday before being postponed due to rain.
THE SERIES VS. DIXIE STATE
This will mark the first all-time meeting between NDSU and Dixie State.
