GRAND FORKS, N.D. –
Amy Phillips claimed the weight throw title and
Kelby Anderson won the 3000m to headline the performances of the North Dakota State women's track & field team on the opening day of the Summit League Indoor Championships.

Anderson, a senior from Bismarck, N.D., ran away with the 3000m title in 9:29.02 for the second-fastest time of her career.

Phillips defended her Summit League crown in the weight throw, posting a mark of 65-02.00 (19.86m) for the win. The Bison women finished 1-4-8 in the event, with
Amanda Anderson fourth at 62-10.00 (19.15m) and freshman
Merrideth Spiers taking eighth with a personal-best throw of 58-04.50 (17.79m).

The NDSU women took third, fourth and eighth in the long jump, led by
Grace Emineth in third with a mark of 19-00.00 (5.79m).
Daejha Moss was fourth at 18-10.50 (5.75m), and
Jodi Lipp was eighth at 18-03.75 (5.58m).

Allie Niska,
Kaci Cooper and
Grace Link finished third in the distance medley relay for NDSU.

Kaleesa Houston ran a personal-best 9:46.16 in the 3000m, crossing the line in fifth. She is now No. 8 on the NDSU all-time list in the event.

Bison sophomore
Nell Graham placed fifth in the pentathlon with a score of 3,465 points.
Angel Pratt finished seventh in just the second pentathlon of her career, scoring 3,345 points.

In addition to the events that were finalized on Friday, NDSU advanced a strong contingent to Saturday's finals on the track.

Four Bison women advanced to the 400m dash final – Pratt, Graham,
Claire Howell, and
Grace Brenner.

Salmata Korgho ran a personal-best 8.58 in the 60m hurdles to qualify for Saturday's final.
Bailee Dierks clocked a season-best 8.78 to advance as well.

NDSU freshman Christiana Collins advanced to the 200m final, running a season-best 24.89 in the prelim.

Collins (7.71),
Bonet Henderson (7.72), and
Aaliyah Heine (7.74) posted strong 60m dash times to place 9th, 10th, and 11th.

With five events scored in the team standings, NDSU stands in first place with 54 points. South Dakota is second with 46.
