VERMILLION, S.D. – All six Bison athletes who competed in the hammer throw Friday night at the South Dakota Challenge set new personal-best marks, headlining the efforts of the North Dakota State men's track & field team.
Senior Trevor Otterdahl – already ranked among the top 30 in the nation – improved his career-best in the hammer throw to 217-9 (66.38m) to win the event. He moved up to fourth-best in school history.
Kristoffer Thomsen threw a career-best 199-3 (60.73m) in the hammer for sixth place in the meet, and he now stands at 12th-best in NDSU history.
Tristan Bush set a new personal-best at 195-3 (59.52m), and Levi Rockey added eight feet to his previous best in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 193-10 (59.08m).
Freshman Sam Roller took second place in the javelin, throwing 183-7 (55.95m).
Jacob Van Dusseldorp cleared a personal-best 15-07.75 (4.77m) in the pole vault.
Due to strong favorable winds, Friday's times in the 200m dash will not count on performance lists or all-time rankings, but the Bison clocked impressive performances nonetheless. Jacob Levin (21.26) took second, Alex Brosseau (21.32) was fourth, Adrian Harris (21.49) placed sixth, and Jack Christl (21.66) finished seventh.
The Bison will conclude competition at South Dakota on Saturday.
