VERMILLION, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team won both throwing events contested on Friday at the South Dakota Challenge.

Senior
Amy Phillips won the hammer throw, posting a toss of 221-2 (67.41m). She remains ranked among the Top 10 in the NCAA this season.

Hayley Schmidt took first place in the javelin with a throw of 136-2 (41.50m) to lead an NDSU sweep of the top three places in the event.
Maggie Steffen finished second at 130-8 (39.83m), and freshman
Taylor Leingang was third at 130-1 (39.64m).

Redshirt freshman
Merrideth Spiers threw a personal-best 176-0 (53.65m) in the hammer throw to take eighth place. In the pole vault,
Jacee Johannsen cleared a personal-best 11-02.50 (3.42m).

Grace Brenner ran a wind-aided 24.98 for seventh place in the 200m dash.

The Bison will conclude competition at South Dakota on Saturday.
