Bison Women Have Big Friday at Summit League Outdoor Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team claimed one event title, recorded a pair of runner-up finishes, and scored significant points in the long jump to highlight the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships Friday.
Senior Amanda Anderson claimed her third straight Summit League title in the discus, throwing 175-4 (53.45m) to win by a margin of nearly 15 feet.
Sophomore Nell Graham took second in the heptathlon with a personal-best score of 4,972 points. Daejha Moss came up with a big runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 5-09.25 (1.76m) for a new outdoor personal-best – tied for fourth in NDSU outdoor history.
The Bison women finished 3-4-6-7 in the long jump to score 16 team points. Sophomore Grace Emineth registered a personal-best leap of 20-03.75 (6.19m) for third place to lead the group, ranking her fourth in NDSU outdoor history.
Jodi Lipp took fourth with a personal-best 19-09.50 (6.03m), Alissa Melvin was sixth with a personal-best 19-03.50 (5.88m), and Moss finished seventh in the long jump at 19-01.50 (5.83m).
Freshman Onnica Stansbury earned All-Summit League honors with a third-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:01.26. Alexis Roehl took fifth for NDSU in a personal-best 11:08.97.
NDSU redshirt freshman Merrideth Spiers took sixth in the discus with a throw of 146-11 (44.79m).
In addition to those events that were finalized on Friday, NDSU advanced a strong contingent to Saturday's finals on the track.
Salmata Korgho ran a personal-best 13.76 in the 100m hurdles prelims to advance and tie for third-fastest in NDSU history.
Bonet Henderson ran a 200m dash personal-best of 24.34 to qualify for the final and rank 11th-fastest in NDSU history. Christiana Collins (24.62) and Graham (24.77) both also advanced in the 200m.
Graham (56.22), Angel Pratt (56.48), and Claire Howell (57.06) qualified for the 400m dash final.
Redshirt freshman Kaci Cooper clocked a personal-best 1:01.79 in the prelims of the 400m hurdles to advance, and Korgho also qualified in a personal-best 1:02.83.
Henderson (personal-best 11.98) was joined by Aaliyah Heine (12.13) advancing in the 100m dash.
