FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – North Dakota State senior throwers
Amy Phillips and
Kari Wolfe earned bids to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with top-12 finishes at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on Thursday afternoon.
Phillips threw 223-1 (68.01m) in the hammer throw for fourth place. She will make her first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 9 in Eugene, Ore. Phillips qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2021, earning second team All-America honors in the weight throw.
Wolfe is headed back to the national meet in the javelin for the second straight year, throwing 171-9 (52.35m) to finish sixth on Thursday. Last year, she placed fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Sophomore
Grace Emineth posted her second straight meet over the 20-foot barrier in the long jump, leaping 20-00.25 (6.10m) for 21st place.
Senior
Amanda Anderson competed in her first of two events at the NCAA West Prelims, throwing 51-06.50 (15.71m) in the shot put for her second-best mark of the season. She will take part in the discus on Saturday.
The NCAA West Preliminary Rounds will continue Friday (men) and Saturday (women) in Arkansas.
