FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's soccer team fell to the University of St. Thomas 3-2 Friday night at Dacotah Field.
The Bison (4-6-3, 0-3-0 Summit League) led twice in the game, but St. Thomas (6-2-3, 2-0-1 Summit League) came from behind and scored the go-ahead goal in the 72
nd minute and held on to send the Bison to their fourth-straight defeat.
Olivia Watson gave the Bison the lead in the 10
th minute, as she took a pass from the end line by
Lavin Douglass and put a shot past Tommies goalkeeper Annie Bantner into the far corner.
St. Thomas would answer 14 minutes later, as Jasmine Gates leveled the game in the 24
th minute and the teams went into the halftime break tied 1-1.
The Bison would go back in front in the 53
rd minute, as
Jess Hanley sent in a corner kick that was headed down by
Alicia Nead and eventually tucked away into the corner by
Paige Goaley.
However, St. Thomas would provide an almost immediate response as Mariah Nguyen scored in the 56
th minute to level the game back up at 2-2. The Tommies would then go in front with a goal from Abby Brantner 16 minutes later.
The Bison were out shot 14-12 in the game and 9-6 in shots on goal.
Abby Wilkinson made six saves for NDSU, while Bantner had four saves for St. Thomas.
NDSU will look to bounce back on Sunday, as the Bison welcome in Western Illinois to Dacotah Field. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
