SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State soccer's
Abby Wilkinson was named the Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year on Thursday, announced the league office with the release of the All-Summit League honors for soccer. Freshman
Amaya Garrett was also named to the Summit League All-Newcomer team.
Wilkinson, who also received First Team All-Summit League honors along with Goalkeeper of the Year, played every single minute for NDSU this season. She recorded six cleansheets, including three in Summit League play. Wilkinson was one of just two keepers to record a shutout against Denver, contributing to the Bison handing the Pioneers their only Summit League loss of the season.
The senior set careers highs in saves (80), save percentage (.816) and goals against average (1.06) across the 2023 season, ranking in the top two in the Summit League in each category. The Littleton, Colorado native had a single-game best of nine saves against Creighton. She also is the first NDSU goalie to play every minute of the season since Monica Polgar in 2019.
Wilkinson is the first Bison to win a Summit League Player of the Year award since 2015; Lauren Miller (Offensive) and Sierra Bonham (Goalkeeper).
Garrett, who received Summit League All-Newcomer Team accolades, started all 17 games at defense for the Bison, including playing all but one minute of league play. The freshman contributed to six shutouts from the back line.
The Omaha, Nebraska native also tied for a team best four goals on the season on just 16 shots, for a team best .250 shooting percentage. Garrett finished with a pair of game-winning goals, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at Coastal Carolina, and also adding the opening goal in a 3-0 victory for the Bison over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
