Emineth Wins Long Jump, Bison Women Take Distance Medley on Day One

VERMILLION, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team earned two event titles on the first day of the Summit League Indoor Championships held Saturday inside the DakotaDome.
 
Grace Emineth won the Summit League title in the long jump to remain unbeaten this season, leaping 19-08.75 (6.01m) for the win. In seven indoor meets this year, she earned seven first-place finishes in the long jump.  
 
NDSU's Aleah Miller, Sofia Naranjo Mata, Brita Birkeland and Grace Link won the distance medley relay crown in a meet record 11:49.32, ranking seventh-fastest in school history.
 
Nell Graham placed third in the pentathlon, scoring a personal-best 3,625 points to rank 10th in NDSU history. Angel Pratt took seventh place with a personal-best 3,530 points.
 
Senior Daejha Moss took sixth in the long jump at 18-08.00 (5.69m), and Jenna Parent finished seventh at 18-07.25 (5.67m).
 
Kaleesa Houston (9:52.90) took sixth place in the 3000m, and Reagan Baesler (9:58.76) placed eighth.
 
The NDSU women are third in the team standings through five scored events with 37 points. North Dakota leads with 53, and South Dakota is second with 46.
 
The Bison women also positioned themselves to score points in the running event finals on Sunday with a number of qualifiers, including four apiece in the 60m hurdles and 200m dash.
 
Terezia Bolibruch, Sydney Arndt, Salmata Korgho and Bailee Dierks advanced to the 60m hurdles final, while Kendra Kelley, Christie Collins, Jasmine Williams and Angel Pratt qualified in the 200m. Kelley also qualified for the 60m dash final in 7.58.
 
Erin Valgardson ran a career-best 2:13.86 in the 800m to advance to the final. Graham ran 57.55 in the 400m prelims to qualify.
 
Competition will resume with the heptathlon 60m hurdles at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Field events start with the women's triple jump at 11:30 a.m., and running events begin at 1 p.m.
