SAN MARCOS, Texas – Tristen Roehrich tossed a game-high and career-best 12 strikeouts as the North Dakota State baseball team dropped a 5-1 decision in the series finale against Texas State at Bobcat Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
Texas State (10-5) began the contest using a sacrifice fly to score the first run, 1-0, in the opening frame. The game then went scoreless for five innings until the Bobcats erupted for four runs on five hits in the seventh to open up a 5-0 advantage.
Druw Sackett responded for the Bison (1-14) dropping an RBI single into center field to score Kyle Law and load up the bases. However, James Dunlap then grounded into a double play to leave the runners stranded and end the eighth inning. NDSU couldn't get anything going the rest of way falling short, 5-1.
The Bison tallied four hits as a team with Sackett, Law, Cadyn Schwabe and Jack Steil each notching one.
Roehrich (0-4) fired a career-high 12 strikeouts with one walk and one run over 5.2 innings. His 12 strikeouts were the most by a Bison player in a single-game since 2007.
NDSU will be back in action beginning a two-game series at Texas on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
