TUCSON, Ariz. – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped an 11-1 decision against Arizona in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.
Following a scoreless first two innings, the Wildcats (8-3) cracked the game open with a three-run home run off the bat of Kiko Romero to make the score 3-0. Mac Bingham then followed it up in the next at-bat with a solo home run to stretch the lead to 4-0 after three innings.
Arizona added another run in the fourth with an RBI ground out before Bingham notched his second home run of the game to left center to increase the lead to 6-0 in the fifth inning.
Peter Brookshaw attempted to get a rally going for the Bison (1-11) with a leadoff home run in the sixth frame to make the score 6-1. However, the Wildcats added five more runs over the final three innings to put the contest out of reach, 11-1, in eight innings.
The Bison notched six hits as a team with
Cadyn Schwabe and
James Dunlap each contributing a team-best two.
Tristen Roehrich (0-3) made the start on the mound with five strikeouts over 4.0 innings.
NDSU will back in action at Texas State on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
