NDSU Baseball Upends No. 23 Texas Tech, 8-1

LUBBOCK, Texas – After working through travel delays and schedule adjustments, the North Dakota State baseball team knocked off No. 23 Texas Tech, 8-1, on Friday night at Rip Griffin Park in front of 3,685 fans.
With the win, the Bison have won seven of their last 11 games and improve to 8-20 (4-2 Summit) on the season. The Red Raiders, who entered the week slotted No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 22 in the D1Baseball.com Top 25 Poll, fall to 20-10 (4-5 Big 12) on the season.
Cade Feeney (3-3) earned his third straight win on the mound tossing five strikeouts with one run over 6.0 innings of work. Skyler Riedinger (3) closed out the final 3.0 innings delivering three scoreless frames with three strikeouts for the save.
As a team, the Bison totaled 13 hits, including a season-high seven doubles. It marked the most doubles in a single game since 2017. Druw Sackett led the way for NDSU going 4-of-6 at the plate with a game-best three RBI and one run. He also tied the NDSU program record for doubles in a single game with three.
Texas Tech jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo home run. NDSU quickly answered in the third inning after Cadyn Schwabe used a sacrifice fly to left center to make the score 1-1. Sackett then followed it up with an RBI double to put the Bison in front, 2-1.
Will Busch kept the energy going into the fourth cracking an RBI single of his own into right field to stretch the edge to 3-1. One inning later, Peter Brookshaw sent an RBI single into right center to increase the lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning.
The contest then went scoreless for three frames until the Bison were able to add insurance scoring four runs on three hits in the ninth. Davis Hamilton started the frame with an RBI single to right center before Schwabe was hit by a pitch allowing a runner to advance home. Sackett finished out the big frame with a two-run double to left center to seal the 8-1 win over the Red Raiders.
NDSU and Texas Tech will conclude their three-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
